After tying for Saturday's best round, Tony Romo sits in second place through two days of the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship at Lake Tahoe in Stateline, Nev.
The Cowboys' quarterback trails only actor Jack Wagner heading into Sunday's final round.
Romo had four birdies during a second-round 70, which was good for 27 points in the modified Stableford scoring system. Romo has a total of 46 points, six behind Wagner and four ahead of former NFL quarterback Chris Chandler.
It won't be easy for Romo to catch Wagner, the only non-pro athlete to ever win the event. But he'll give it his best shot.
"I'm very competitive whenever I show up to play, whether it's basketball, football, soccer, golf, whatever it is," Romo said, according to The Associated Press.
Wagner and Romo, who tied for second last year, will be paired together Sunday.
Former Dallas Star Mike Modano scored 17 points in the second round for a total of 37, good for ninth place.
Former Cowboy Emmitt Smith isn't faring as well, although he bounced back from a minus-8 in the first round with nine points Saturday. His total of one ties him for 55th in the 85-player field.
