September 09, 2011Moneyball, starring Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill and Philip Seymour Hoffman, takes a look inside the story of how one man changed the way that baseball was managed.
The film follows Pitt as Billy Beane, the real-life general manager of the Oakland Athletics, as he tries to assemble his baseball team using different standards than have been previously used in baseball.
Speaking on the challenges that Billy Beane faced, Pitt says, "The minute you start questioning any of those norms, you can be labeled a heretic or dismissed as foolish. These guys had to step back and ask, 'If we were going to start this game today, is this how we'd do it?' A system that has worked for 150 years doesn't work for us - I think that's applicable to the moments of flux we're experiencing today."
Moneyball opens in theaters on September 23, 2011.
