"Jedward are the favourites to win at [1.9], but in truth, they should be even hotter favourites than that."
Jedward, probably the only celebrities with a career remaining once the cameras stop rolling, are favourites to sign off a truly execrable CBB series with a win, says Eliot Pollak who can't wait for it all to come to an end
This season's 'Celebrity' Big Brother comes to an abrupt end on Thursday night, with the version for 'normal people' set to start on Friday. Admittedly, the dividing line between the two versions has never been slimmer than this series of CBB, and it would be a surprise if some form of mashing of the two, didn't occur over the next few weeks.
Pity the poor workies employed to tidy up the house in less than 24 hours. They will be praying that Jedward don't go on to win the thing, due to the bequiffed twins' tendency to throw soup all over the place when excited. As things stand, the Irishmen are the favourites to win at [1.9], but in truth, they should be even hotter favourites than that.
If there is to be a dark horse, try single-figure IQ hard-man Paddy. Fans of Big Brother love a journey, and watching him bond with a bunch of silver-spooners despite his limited grasp of the Queen's English may have softened a few hearts. Of course, who knows what might happen when he is eventually evicted. He might simply choose not to budge, as seems to be the popular way with his colleagues on the outside. Doherty is [11.0] to triumph.
Amy Childs won't win, which is a missed opportunity, although she is [3.55] to be the top female. When the line-up was announced, it looked like hers to lose, but she has neither tightened trousers in the house, nor surprised anyone with a subtle wit. She does exactly what it says on the tin. Which is blank.
Darryn was cast in the role of this year's pantomime villain, and they never win. So count him out.
Meanwhile, the two in-house hunks, Lucien and Bobby Something, have also failed to impress, essentially on account of having absolutely no profile from the start. Lucien was a bit-part actor in soaps, Bobby's day job involves walking in a straight line. Were this 2001, they might go onto greater things. But it isn't.
All of which leaves the ante-post favourite, Kerry Katona. Rumours are flying around that she lost out on a place in the 2010 Celebrity Big Brother after failing to pass the rigorous pre-entry brain tests. Clearly no such examinations were bothered with this year.
She has done little of note, but might just trump the others on account of being marginally more recognisable to the old women who vote on these things. Her [2.88] may shorten depending on events over the coming days, and she is certainly worth keeping an eye on, as social services will no doubt concur, upon her exiting the house.
