The iconic three-day event officially begins on Friday (24Jun11) but several stages hosted sets by lesser-known acts on Thursday to entertain thousands of revellers who arrived early.
Festival-goers who braved the rain were given a special treat when the TiK ToK hitmaker performed a surprise set, ahead of her scheduled slot on the East Dance stage on Friday night.
Following the hour-long show, Ke$ha took to her Twitter.com blog to tell fans, "Today was epic!!!! I played the dance tent for the Glasto (sic) Thursday partiers... Tomorrow Dance tent!! Again!! I've been f**king waiting my whole life for the chance to play Glastonbury!! My throat was bleeding. There's nothing more worth my blood than my fans. I'll scream till I bleed all summer long for u (you) guys."
The festival this year (11) features main headline shows by U2, Coldplay, and Beyonce.
