On May 2nd, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the 2011 Met Gala was held. It was, by far, the biggest gathering of personalities from Hollywood and the fashion world, all putting on their best for Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty.
British designer Stella McCartney dressed many guests at the gala, from Naomi Watts' illusion neckline gown, to Thandie Newton's beautifully dark outfit, to Madonna's Old Hollywood number sans bunny ears.
Other guests seemed to give a little nod to the April 29 royal wedding with fascinators, tiaras, and jeweled headpieces. Demi Moore took it a step too far with a fascinator that had her head tilting to one side. Her Prabal Gurung gown, however, looked amazing on her, almost as if the designer found a way to sculpt feathers on her figure.

Australian actress Isabel Lucas matched her Grecian Louis Vuitton dress with an intricately jeweled, Mata Hari-like headpiece, and earrings. Also rocking a random piece of jewelry placed atop her head was Kate Hudson. Fellow pregnant actress Jessica Alba topped her beautiful, spun gold Ralph Lauren gown with a little tiara-like piece.

Another trend at the 2011 Met Gala was the long-sleeved dress with an open back. Gwyneth Paltrow wore one by Stella McCartney. Sarah Jessica Parker looked regal in Alexander McQueen, from the late designer's Fall 2005 collection. And the best of the group was Rene Zellweger wearing a knockout Carolina Herrera creation.

The young Hollywood contingent was well represented at the gala. The Fanning sisters wore Valentino. Dakota looked like Persephone in her breathtaking floral appliqu gown, while Elle was a standout in black and lace Valentino Haute Couture. Evan Rachel Wood was a stunner in Gucci Premiere, too bad her hairstyle was disappointing. Kristen Stewart was the picture of sophistication in her black and red Proenza Schouler dress, while fellow Twilight Saga girl Ashley Greene looked angelic in her Donna Karan gown. Saoirse Ronan once again went for the unusual, yet beautiful, in red Rodarte, and Emma Stone donned floral Lanvin and gorgeous, bright pink lip color.
One of the evening's most dramatic looks came courtesy of Christina Ricci. It was as if Wednesday Addams left the Addams family to live with magical spiders. All of Christina -- from neck, to tiny waist, to well-past her feet -- was encased in an elaborate and dark Zac Posen gown, which represented all the gala's drama, celebration and savage beauty.
