Kate?s Royal Wedding Gown Remains A Mystery As Label Shoots Down Rumors They Are Behind Dress

LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

The biggest mystery of the Royal Wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton appeared to be solved, but on Thursday, following a statement from Libelula, the designer of the bride?s wedding dress remains a mystery.

Many reports had surfaced in recent days suggesting that Sophie Cranston of Libelula was the woman behind Kate?s gown, but on Wednesday, the company released a statement indicating otherwise.

?For the purpose of clarification we are not designing Kate Middleton?s wedding dress. We, like everyone else, can?t wait to find out who it is,? the company said in a statement.

It is possible that Sophie may still be designing ? or at least creating ? Kate?s dress ? just not under the guise of Libelula. However, there are also reports that the blushing Buckleberry bride designed her own gown for the ceremony on April 29.

Just days ago, the Daily Mail reported that Kate designed her dress and it will feature a 10 ft. train, ivory satin and lace with pearl buttons.

A source told the paper that Kate used her art history degree ? particularly her knowledge of the renaissance ? in the designing of her bridal gown. The paper also reported it will have a ?nod to the iconic Emanuel wedding dress worn by Lady Diana Spencer.?

Sophie?s name had come up as the woman who would create the dress ? based on Kate?s design ? but today?s statement from Libelula casts somewhat of a doubt on that rumor.

Other designer names that have been bandied about in recent weeks have included Alice Temperley (a favorite of many celebrities) and Bruce Oldfield, whose looks the late Princess Diana enjoyed wearing.

Kate previously worked for Jigsaw, a clothing retailer.

On the eve of the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, Shaadi.com, an online matrimonial service recently conducted a poll amongst its members on which Indian celebrity would make a good pair with Prince William. They were required to choose from three Indian Women ? Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra and Sonakshi Sinha. Out of the 8000 survey takers, 75.3 per cent respondents believed that Katrina would be the best Indian celebrity match for Prince William, followed by Priyanka Chopra with 16.7 per cent and Sonakshi Sinha with 8 per cent. As the world is following every step of the Royal Wedding on the Internet and social media, Shaadi.com posed the same question on social networking platforms asking followers their opinion on which Indian celebrity women would be make a good pair with Prince William. With no options to choose from, the results showed that the most preferred celebrity woman was Sushmita Sen.

Factbox: Major British royal weddings since 1923 (Reuters)

(Reuters) ? Thousands of Britons are planning to get out the bunting, balloons and fold-up tables to celebrate Friday's wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Here are some details on some of the major British royal weddings in the last 80 years:

* WEDDINGS BEFORE WORLD WAR TWO:

1923 -- Prince Albert, Duke of York (later King George VI) married Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon (later Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother) in Westminster Abbey in April.

1937 -- King Edward VIII, formerly the Prince of Wales, formally abdicated from the British throne on December 11, 1936, in order to marry Wallis Simpson, a twice-divorced American socialite. Edward's younger brother became King George VI.

-- In June 1937 Edward and Wallis Simpson married in the

secluded Chateau de Cande in the Loire Valley in France.

* AFTER 1945:

1947 -- Westminster Abbey was the scene of the marriage of Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip on November 20. They first met at the wedding of Prince Philip's cousin, Princess Marina of Greece, to The Duke of Kent, who was an uncle of Princess Elizabeth, in 1934.

1960: The current queen's sister, Princess Margaret and Antony Armstrong-Jones (later Earl of Snowdon) were married on May 6. She was divorced from him in 1978.

1973 -- Princess Anne, the queen's only daughter and the younger sister of heir-to-the-throne Charles, married Captain Mark Phillips. The couple had two children, Peter, the queen's first grandchild, in 1977 and Zara in 1981.

-- The marriage broke down in 1989 and they were divorced in 1992. In the same year, Anne married one-time royal aide Commander Timothy Laurence, Royal Navy (now Vice Admiral Laurence), at a private ceremony at Crathie Church, near Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

1981 -- St. Paul's Cathedral was the venue for the glamorous wedding of Prince Charles to 20-year-old Lady Diana Spencer which relieved the gloom of economic recession. Diana became one of the most high-profile royals.

-- The mood was one of national rejoicing. But the union was ill-starred, and the marriage eventually collapsed amid mutual accusations of adultery.

1986 -- Prince Andrew, Charles's younger brother, the Duke of York, married publishing executive Sarah Ferguson.

-- The marriage fell apart in 1992 after the publication of photographs showing the married duchess in the arms of another man, Texan John Bryan. The marriage produced two daughters, Beatrice in 1988 and Eugenie in 1990.

1999 -- Prince Edward, the queen's youngest son is the only one of her children who has not divorced. He married public relations executive Sophie Rhys-Jones and they became the Earl and Countess of Wessex. Their first baby, named Louise Alice Elizabeth Mary Mountbatten-Windsor was born in 2003 and their son James Viscount Severn was born in 2007.

2005 -- The marriage of Charles, Prince of Wales to Mrs. Camilla Parker Bowles was dedicated in St. George's Chapel following a civil ceremony in Windsor's Guildhall on April 9, 2005.

* TWO WEDDINGS:

2011 -- About 1,900 people -- ranging from family and friends to foreign dignitaries, diplomats, soldiers and charity workers -- have been asked to attend the April 29 wedding service for second-in-line to the throne Prince William and Kate Middleton in Westminster Abbey.

-- Some 650 will get the opportunity to enjoy a lunch reception with the queen at Buckingham Palace, while a more select group of about 300 will be treated to an evening banquet hosted by William's father, Prince Charles.

-- Queen Elizabeth's granddaughter Zara Phillips will marry in July, Buckingham Palace said on March 9. The daughter of Princess Anne and her first husband Mark Phillips, she will wed England rugby player Mike Tindall, on July 30 in the Scottish capital, Edinburgh. The wedding will be held at Canongate Kirk, the parish church of Edinburgh Castle, with a reception at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the queen's official residence in Scotland.

Royal Wedding Guest List Revealed; Did The Beckhams Make The Cut?

LONDON, ENGLAND, UK --

When Prince William and Kate Middleton wed in Westminster Abbey next Friday, it will be an illustrious affair, according to the newly revealed guest list.

On Friday, Britain?s The Sun newspaper posted a list of royals, dignitaries and even a small quota of celebrities set to attend the couple?s big day.

It was the Queen?s portion of the guest list that is set to bring in royals from across the globe including Prince Albert of Monaco, the son of the late big screen legend Grace Kelly and her husband, Prince Rainier III. Other royals set to attend are coming from Norway, Saudi Arabia, Romania, Swaziland, Bahrain, Sweden, Spain and Denmark; even one of the world?s richest men, the Sultan of Brunei, will attend.

The Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife, Samantha, as well as a number of additional British political figures will also be in the pews for William and Kate?s big day.

The wedding will have a family feel too, as the brother and nieces of the late Lady Diana, Prince William?s mother, will attend. Di?s brother, Earl Spencer, will support his nephew alongside his daughters, Lady Kitty Spencer, Lady Amelia Spencer and Lady Eliza Spencer.

Beyond Prince William?s friend David Beckham, and the soccer star?s wife, Victoria, who were confirmed, according to The Sun, celebutante and socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, the daughter of Prince Charles? two friends, has also made the list.

The Sun also reported that Gregory Allen, a yoga teacher, made the Middleton family?s guest list, as did Tim Billington, a horse breeder.

Other previously mentioned names who turned up on the guest list included Chelsy Davy, Prince Harry?s on-and-off girlfriend, several of William and Kate?s exes and Holly Branson, the daughter of Virgin head honcho, Sir Richard Branson

Pattinson feels sorry for Middleton

The brunette beauty will exchange vows with the prince in a lavish ceremony in London on Friday (29Apr11), marking her official induction into the royal family.

Pattinson will be watching the nuptials on TV as he finds the royal wedding "fascinating" but he fears Middleton has a difficult time ahead of her once she becomes royalty.

He tells the Radio Times, "It's going to be hard (for her) because people will lay responsibilities on her that seem totally irrelevant. You can't mess up, either. As an actor, you can kind of mess up - but not if you're a royal.

"I've always liked the members of the royal family who couldn't care less what anyone thinks: the ones who go, 'I'm royalty - so shut up!' That's one of the coolest things about England, I think, that we still have this crazy old system in place...

"I'll definitely be watching the royal wedding. I mean, they're absolutely obsessed with it in America, it's insane... but I guess it's kind of a big deal. Actually, I think it's really sort of fascinating."
