Ewan McGregor Recalls Pressure To Sing On 'Moulin Rouge At 10'

On Monday (May 2), MTV News paid homage to the 10-year anniversary of Baz Luhrmann's "Moulin Rouge" with help from the film's stars, including Ewan McGregor. The actor recalled how exciting it was to work with Luhrmann and leading lady Nicole Kidman. McGregor also remembered that there was lots of excitement for the project ? even before he signed on.

"There was a real buzz about it. Everyone knew about 'Moulin Rouge' before I met with Baz," McGregor said during "Moulin Rouge at 10: A Spectacular Spectacular MTV News Event."

"He asked to meet me to do a kind of workshop and I had done the same thing with Baz before when he was casting for 'Romeo + Juliet.' He remembered my audition for that."

Hollywood insiders weren't the only ones excited for the project: pop-music fanatics and musical movie-lovers also caught the buzz. With Luhrmann planning spectacular numbers that used beloved pop songs, McGregor knew he had to step up his singing game for the part. McGregor plays Christian, a writer who falls (tragically) in love with a Moulin Rouge performer after moving to Paris during what's called the Bohemian Revolution in the film.

"I had never sung like I was expected to sing for 'Moulin Rouge,' where the singing was a part of the storytelling and not just part of the character. I've only ever sung as a character, if you like, before, where if my singing wasn't very good, it didn't matter," he explained. He added about the music, "It had to be on a certain level. ... We certainly did a lot of singing training.

"I think I like the tango," he said about his favorite number, which takes place as Christian and Satine (Kidman) are caught in a love triangle with the Duke, who helps fund the musical the Moulin Rouge cast is staging. The song uses the Police's 80s classic "Roxanne."

"There's something really desperate and fantastic about the tango. And I'll never forget walking down through the rows of dancers really upset and singing. That was fantastic."

So, would McGregor sign on to work with Kidman and Luhrmann again? "I'd love to," he said. "I'm really up for that."

Nicole Scherzinger to Host The X Factor: Source

Simon Cowell has not yet revealed the identities of the all the judges on The X Factor, but a source tells PEOPLE that Nicole Scherzinger will be the show's host.

Formerly of girl group the Pussycat Dolls, the singer-actress, 32, appeared on the U.K. version of The X Factor as a guest judge in July. At the time, fellow judge Louis Walsh praised Scherzinger's stint on the show saying, "This girl has the X Factor in every way. She was incredibly impressive and ticked every box."

Added the show's U.K. host, Dermot O'Leary, "She was hilarious."

When discussing Scherzinger during a chat with Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS morning show in March, Cowell said, "I absolutely adore her. She's gorgeous and ruthlessly ambitious."

It's still undecided whether Scherzinger ? who will release her solo album Killer Love later this year ? will have a co-host, but Cowell has said he thinks the show could benefit from two hosts.

In March, Cowell named Antonio "L.A." Reid as a judge on X Factor. Cowell himself will also be a judge. And when it comes to filling the other two judges' seats, Cowell told PEOPLE in March that Paula Abdul and Cheryl Cole are in the running.

In the meantime, thousands of hopefuls continue to come out for X Factor auditions across the country. Next, the show heads to Dallas in search of talented singers.

Royal Wedding Guest List Revealed; Did The Beckhams Make The Cut?

LONDON, ENGLAND, UK --

When Prince William and Kate Middleton wed in Westminster Abbey next Friday, it will be an illustrious affair, according to the newly revealed guest list.

On Friday, Britain?s The Sun newspaper posted a list of royals, dignitaries and even a small quota of celebrities set to attend the couple?s big day.

It was the Queen?s portion of the guest list that is set to bring in royals from across the globe including Prince Albert of Monaco, the son of the late big screen legend Grace Kelly and her husband, Prince Rainier III. Other royals set to attend are coming from Norway, Saudi Arabia, Romania, Swaziland, Bahrain, Sweden, Spain and Denmark; even one of the world?s richest men, the Sultan of Brunei, will attend.

The Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife, Samantha, as well as a number of additional British political figures will also be in the pews for William and Kate?s big day.

The wedding will have a family feel too, as the brother and nieces of the late Lady Diana, Prince William?s mother, will attend. Di?s brother, Earl Spencer, will support his nephew alongside his daughters, Lady Kitty Spencer, Lady Amelia Spencer and Lady Eliza Spencer.

Beyond Prince William?s friend David Beckham, and the soccer star?s wife, Victoria, who were confirmed, according to The Sun, celebutante and socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, the daughter of Prince Charles? two friends, has also made the list.

The Sun also reported that Gregory Allen, a yoga teacher, made the Middleton family?s guest list, as did Tim Billington, a horse breeder.

Other previously mentioned names who turned up on the guest list included Chelsy Davy, Prince Harry?s on-and-off girlfriend, several of William and Kate?s exes and Holly Branson, the daughter of Virgin head honcho, Sir Richard Branson

Tina Fey Says Her Husband Is Bad At Diaper Duty: ?He Never Got Past The Poop?

Tina Fey?s second baby may be on the way, but while her husband, Jeff Richmond, is a helpful sort of man, last time around ? with daughter Alice, now 5 ? he failed miserably at assisting her with diaper duty.

?My husband was really good about helping out. The problem was diapers. He never got past the poop,? Tina told GQ magazine?s May issue. ?He would do these [gagging noise] ?Oh God, I?m gonna vomit.? Never got over it.?

As for the actress/writer herself, she had trouble adjusting to using a breast pump, while at the same time watching an HBO bromance comedy series.

?Yeah, the thing?s upsetting. I would try to pump milk while watching ?Entourage? on demand. And that was the worst possible way to do it,? she told the mag. ?Like, I had the pump on, and I?d hear Turtle on TV: ?Yo, E, you ever [expletive] a girl when she has her period?? I just sat there thinking, ?Oooh, this is not how this is meant to be.??

The expectant mom is currently celebrating the 100th episode of her NBC comedy series, ?30 Rock,? which aired on Thursday night, and she admitted that her character is a lot like another legendary NBC character.

?I always feel like she?s like Jerry Seinfeld on ?Seinfeld.? You couldn?t have done ?Seinfeld? and hired some random guy to be Seinfeld,? she said. ?What he was bringing was very specific to him.?

In related Tina news, the actress revealed to ?The Oprah Winfrey Show? earlier this month that she is five months along in her pregnancy. She is currently promoting a memoir, ?Bossypants.?

Cher: I Admire Chaz's Courage

Cher is more supportive than ever to her son, Chaz, who legally changed his gender and name last year.

The iconic singer held a small screening of the upcoming documentary Becoming Chaz at her Malibu home over the weekend. "Cher and 10 of her and Chaz's friends stood up and cheered when it was over," a friend of Cher's tells PEOPLE.

The friend says Cher told her during the screening, "I admire my son Chaz's courage for sharing his personal journey. Most important to me is that he is very happy. That's what I care about the most. He has my love and support."

Chaz, who was born Chastity Bono to the famed singing duo, Sonny and Cher, started his female-to-male sex change March 2009, shortly after his 40th birthday. The documentary tells the story of his transformation from a woman to a man. It is scheduled to air on Oprah's OWN Network next week.

Bono came out as a lesbian at age 18, when he was studying at New York University. Sonny Bono, who died in a skiing accident in 1998, was accepting of his decision, but Cher had trouble with it. She told Vanity Fair that, "If I woke up tomorrow in a guy's body, I would just kick and scream and cry and [expletive] rob a bank, because I cannot see myself as anything but who I am ? a girl," she says. "I would not take it as well as Chaz has. I couldn't imagine it."

In the interview, she called Chaz a smart girl before correcting herself and calling him a boy. "This is where I get into trouble. ? I still don't remember to call her 'him.' "
