Hooters Sues Rival Alleging Breastaurant Knockoff

0930_hooters_BN_02Hooters claims another restaurant chain stole its trade secrets ... no, not chicken wings ... it's another part of the bird.

According to court docs obtained by TMZ, Hooters claims a former VP defected to a competing company -- La Cima Restaurants, LLC which is now developing a competing boob-intensive chain called "Twin Peaks" -- but before he left he allegedly pilfered some highly-sensitive documents which serve as a business road map.

Hooters contends Joseph Hummel, the alleged Benedict Arnold of large and often artificial brests, is now in possession of plans related to management, recruitment, distribution and sales. As for recruitment, we're thinking it should be kinda obvious.

Hooters wants a judge to order La Cima to fire Hummel and to ignore whatever they now know about Hooters based on the sensitive documents. Good luck with that one.

Breast wars ... sounds delicious.

Guard: Jackson doc collected vials before 911 call (AP)

LOS ANGELES ? One of Michael Jackson's bodyguards had barely stepped into the singer's bedroom when he heard a scream. "Daddy!" Jackson's young daughter cried.

A few feet away, the singer lay motionless in his bed, eyes slightly open. His personal doctor, Conrad Murray, was trying to revive him when he saw that Jackson's eldest children were watching.

"Don't let them see their dad like this," Murray said, the first of many orders that bodyguard Alberto Alvarez testified Thursday that he heeded in the moments before paramedics arrived at Jackson's home in June 2009.

What happened next ? after Alvarez said he ushered Jackson's eldest son and daughter from the room ? is one of the key pieces of prosecutors' involuntary manslaughter case against Murray.

According to Alvarez, Murray scooped up vials of medicine from Jackson's nightstand and told the bodyguard to put them away. "He said, `Here, put these in a bag,'" Alvarez said.

Alvarez complied. He placed an IV bag into another bag, and then Murray told him to call 911, Alvarez said

On the third day of the trial, prosecutors tried to show that Murray, who has pleaded not guilty, delayed calling authorities and that he was intent on concealing signs that he had been giving the singer doses of the anesthetic propofol.

Alvarez said he thought Murray might be preparing to take the items to the hospital, but didn't question him.

The bags never made it to the hospital, and prosecutors claim Murray repeatedly lied to emergency personnel and did not tell them he had been giving Jackson doses of the drug as a sleep aid.

If convicted, Murray, 58, could face up to four years in prison and lose his medical license.

Defense attorney Ed Chernoff questioned whether there was enough time for Alvarez to shield Jackson's children, survey the room and stow away the drugs in the brief period that phone records show he was in the home before calling emergency responders.

The bodyguard insisted there was, telling the attorney, "I'm very efficient, sir."

Chernoff was not convinced, questioning whether 30 seconds was enough time for the dramatic sequence to play out. Alvarez assured him it was.

The defense attorney also challenged Alvarez's recollection, asking whether the collection of the vials happened after paramedics had come and whisked Jackson to a nearby hospital. Alvarez denied it happened after he called 911.

Chernoff questioned why Alvarez didn't tell authorities about Murray's commands to bag up the medication immediately after Jackson died, but instead waited until two months after the singer's death. The bodyguard said he didn't realize its significance until seeing a news report in late June in which he recognized one of the bags detectives were carrying out of Jackson's mansion.

The burly Alvarez became emotional as the 911 call was played for jurors. Jackson's mother, Katherine, appeared distraught and her son, Randy, huddled next to her and put his arm around her. She did not attend the afternoon proceedings,

"Was that difficult to hear?" prosecutor David Walgren asked.

"It is," Alvarez replied.

After hanging up with dispatchers, Alvarez said he performed chest compressions on Jackson while Murray gave the singer mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. The doctor remarked it was his first time performing the procedure.

"'I have to,'" Alvarez recalled Murray telling him, "`because he's my friend.'"

Alvarez recalled seeing Murray at the hospital where Jackson was taken and sitting next to the emergency room.

"`I wanted him to make it,'" Alvarez quoted Murray as saying. "`I wanted him to make it.'"

Alvarez's testimony allowed Walgren to present jurors directly with a bottle of propofol that they've heard much about throughout the previous two days of the trial.

Jurors intently looked at the bottle, which appeared to still contain some liquid.

When he entered the bedroom, Alvarez said, he saw Jackson's eyes were open and was surprised to see the singer was wearing a condom catheter, a medical device that allows one to urinate without having to get up.

Alvarez testified that Murray only told him Jackson had a "bad reaction." Jackson's personal assistant, who testified Wednesday, said Murray told him the same thing.

Alvarez said it was a stunning scene, a far cry from the night before when the bodyguard stood backstage at Staples Center, sneaking peeks of Jackson performing during what would be his final rehearsal.

"He was very happy," Alvarez testified. "I do recall he was in very good spirits."

In another effort to cast doubt on the bodyguard's testimony, Chernoff asked whether Alvarez, another bodyguard, Faheem Muhammad, and Jackson's assistant, Michael Amir Williams, colluded before being interviewed by detectives two months after Jackson's death.

The three men, who were among the first to interact with Murray after Jackson stopped breathing, have denied the accusation.

Jackson's personal chef, Kai Chase, testified Thursday about seeing a panicked Murray come into the kitchen the day of Jackson's death and telling her to summon security and send up Jackson's eldest son Prince. The chef said she sent the boy upstairs, but didn't call security.

Five to 10 minutes after Chase said she saw Murray in the kitchen, the doctor called Williams, who dispatched security to Jackson's bedroom.

On Friday, jurors are expected to hear from a pair of paramedics who were dispatched to Jackson's mansion and tried resuscitation efforts.

The medics believed Jackson was already dead by the time they arrived, but Murray insisted the performer be taken to a hospital for additional resuscitation efforts.

Walgren asked whether anything good had happened to Alvarez as a result of his experience in Jackson's bedroom.

"No sir," Alvarez responded.

Media outlets offered him up to $500,000 for interviews, but Alvarez said he always refused. "It's caused a lot of financial problems," he said, starting to choke up. "I went from a great salary to hardly anything."

Wallabies wary of 'Russian' Byrnes

Adam Byrnes

Russian adventure: Adam Byrnes (right) hits Ireland's Ireland's Sean Cronin hard in the tackle. Source: Getty Images

THE mad dog streak of new Russian weapon Adam Byrnes has the Wallabies on high alert for a fiery forward ambush in Nelson on Saturday when a local friendship campaign may have to be hurriedly revised as "Bearhug An Aussie Day."

The aggressive Byrnes is 2.01m of ticking time bomb whenever he runs onto the field so facing regular Super Rugby rivals and a Wallabies team he so recently dreamed of playing for is the recipe for some eyeball-to-eyeball grappling.

It's the same lock who once whacked James Slipper in a feisty confrontation at Queensland training which prompted the young prop to chase him around Ballymore looking for a get-square. The pair will be in rival packs on Saturday.

In 2008, there was another fractious moment at NSW Waratahs training when Byrnes, as a Junior Waratah, almost came to blows with Wallabies Dan Vickerman and Matt Dunning during a full contact session when he wouldn't back down against his idols of the day.

Byrnes is now a dedicated Melbourne Rebels player but Scott Higginbotham, set to start at No.8 or flanker in Nelson now his back spasm has settled, remembers him well from their 2009-10 Reds days together.

"There were no one-on-one fights but trainings did get pretty physical with Byrnsie around. He's a good guy but I think Saturday will be more a case of him having a special welcome for us than the other way around, " Higginbotham said with a grin.

Nelson Mayor Aldo Miccio invented "Hug An Aussie Day" for the arrival of the Wallabies in town today to show more Kiwis actually do like their trans-Tasman neighbours but the Russians are unlikely to be so genteel.

"Coming up against guys like Byrnsie you know it is going to be 'on' and the rest of the Russians forwards have also shown they like to play it hard, " Higginbotham said.

Russian hooker Valery Tsnobiladze will be missing after being suspended for three weeks for a headbutt in the loss to Ireland last Sunday.

Byrnes has earned three caps but playing Australia is the prize.

"I gave my all to that dream of playing for the Wallabies and now I'm playing against them which is the next best thing. I could see a guy like our No.8 Victor Gresev walking into a Super Rugby side so Australia won't have it all their own way, " Byrnes said.

Higginbotham should be a valuable 30-minute closer in the cut-throat finals games but he was badly under-utilised off the bench when the result against Ireland was slipping away.

Deans wants his forwards to be discipline in the face of any baiting from Byrnes.

"They know him well. Discipline, on our part, is important, " Deans added.

Higginbotham is up for it.

"There'll be a lot of frustration to get out in my game and I always like to play that physical sort of footy, " Higginbotham said.

"It was a real disappointment to miss that starting cap against the US. I was just cleaning out at the start of training, the back must have been a bit cold and got a bit jarred. "

Deans said the approach against the Russians, beaten 62-12 by Ireland, had to be full-throttle.

"From this point, teams are going home every week. Lose and you've got to leave the country in 24 hours so that is a pretty immediate reality, " Deans said.

Where did the bushranger beard of Byrnes disappear to?

Girlfriend Sophie Edington, the multiple Commonwealth Games swimming gold medallist, demanded it for July's date with royalty at the wedding of Prince Albert of Monaco.

True. Edington is firm friends with the Prince's wife Charlene, a former South African swimmer. The event was eye-popping.

"It wasn't a wedding day but an incredible wedding four days, " Byrnes said.

Denmark's Crown Princess Mary floated by. Tiaras dotted the dance floor. Swedish model Victoria Silvstedt and Olympic gymnastics great Nadia Comaneci were fellow guests at his table at the palace wedding reception.

"It wasn't a star-spotting occasion but a beautiful event. I thought rugby players partied hard but this was a gluttony of food and drink and fun for days, " Byrnes said.

FALL RIVER, Massachusetts (AP) ? Ines De Costa, a hometown family friend who inspired celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse, has died, her daughter said.

De Costa died overnight in her sleep at her Fall River home after spending Friday cooking in a city athletic club kitchen, her daughter, Ines Bates, said Tuesday. De Costa was 79.

De Costa had been suffering from heart problems for several years, her daughter said.

"She was a magnificent woman who thought food could fix anything," Bates said. "God was so good to her."

Lagasse did not immediately issue a statement Tuesday.

When Lagasse was a boy of about 9 or 10, he used to sit and watch De Costa in the kitchen of a restaurant she owned at the time in nearby Swansea when he visited with his family, Bates said.

Lagasse included many of De Costa's recipes in his cookbooks, although she was never afraid to scold him for fiddling with her ingredients.

"He put a recipe for her St. John's kale soup in one book, but she said he put in too much salt, and called to yell at him," Bates said. "Mom was a surprise guest on his TV show once, and she came out on stage and started yelling at him for messing up her recipes."

Lagasse maintained a loving lifelong relationship with the woman he called his second mother. He always checked in on her whenever he visited his home town, and she was a frequent guest at his New Orleans restaurant.

De Costa, known throughout Fall River as "Vo" ? a Portuguese word for grandmother ? ran the kitchen at St. John's Athletic Club for 33 years after retiring from the restaurant business.

De Costa was born in the Azores and moved to the U.S. in 1952.

In addition to her daughter, she is survived by two sons. Her husband, Manuel, died 22 years ago.

A public wake is scheduled for Thursday. A funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday at St. John of God Church in Somerset followed by burial next to her husband.

Tulisa and Fazer get cosy at Dappy's party

TULISA Contostavlos and Fazer looked unusually intimate as they celebrated N-Dubz bandmate Dappy's first solo number one single in London last night.

The pair appeared inseparable as they partied at the Movida nightclub with Dionne Bromfield, Jade Ewen, Tinchy Stryder and Chipmunk.

Although it's understood the couple have been dating for over a year, they're reported to have agreed not to discuss their relationship with the media and tend to avoid public displays of affection.

But Fazer looked very protective of Tulisa as photographers crowded round the stars outside.

The X Factor judge looked svelte in a cream bandage dress and gold heels, with hot pink nails and lips adding a touch of colour.

And while Fazer and Dappy went for a more understated monochrome look, their bling would have made a magpie blush.

Former Disney Singer Busted for DUI

0909_ksm_ex_getty
Shelby Cobra, lead singer of the now-defunct Disney girl band KSM, was arrested early Friday morning for driving under the influence -- and according to our sources ... her blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit. Did we mention she's only 18?

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... Cobra, real name Shelby Spalione, was spotted in Studio City driving a 2005 Ford F150 with the dome light on and a passenger who was not only not wearing a seat belt, but was sitting sideways.

We're told when cops pulled the car over, they detected alcohol on Shelby's breath and administered a blood alcohol test ... which registered a whopping 0.15%.

She was arrested and booked into Van Nuys jail at around 2:00 AM. Shelby was released just before 11:00 AM on her own recognizance.

KSM was originally formed as a kids version of a Go-Go's cover band. Shelby joined the group later on and the focus shifted from pop to rock. The band broke up in 2010.

Calls to Shelby's people have not been returned.

9/11 Anniversary: Obama Leads US In Mourning

President Barack Obama will lead America in mourning the lives lost in the 9/11 attacks later today in ceremonies in New York, Washington DC and Shanksville.

Nearly 3,000 people died when al Qaeda hijackers brought down the World Trade Centre towers, flew a plane into the Pentagon and into a field in Pennsylvania.

The names of all those who perished will be read out at the memorial event in lower Manhattan where the Twin Towers once stood.

Those names are also inscribed in bronze surrounding two huge reflecting pools marking the foundations of the buildings that collapsed on the morning of September 11 a decade ago.

Charles Wolf lost his British wife Katherine. She was working in the North Tower and never made it out.

He says the memorial built at Ground Zero is a fitting tribute to those who died.

"It's beautiful... it is not until you walk up to the memorial and stand there with the names underneath you and the waterfalls around you and the entirety of the whole footprint of the World Trade Centre tower in front of you.

"It bowls you over... it is so powerful."

The ceremony at the World Trade Centre site will start at 8.40am local time and this year will pause at six moments - twice to mark the times that each plane hit the towers, twice to mark the time when each tower fell and to mark the moments of the attacks on the Pentagon and on Flight 93 in Shanksville.

The first moment of silence will be at 8.46am, and houses of worship across New York will toll their bells at that time.

Mr Obama and former president George W Bush will give readings as will Mayor Mike Bloomberg and former mayor Rudy Giuliani.

In a presidential message, Mr Obama said: "A decade ago, our fellow citizens and first responders rushed up stairwells, into flames, and into that cockpit and gave their lives to save others.

"In the decade since, a new generation - our military personnel, intelligence officers, and law enforcement - has stepped forward to serve our country and keep us safe.

"This weekend, I encourage all Americans to remember not only the innocent lives we lost on that day, but to remember the ordinary goodness and patriotism of the American people and the spirit of unity that brought us together during the days and weeks after the attacks of September 11."

Tattle: This big Jackson tribute could be the king of flop

Posted on Sat, Sep. 10, 2011

Who's bad? Apparently, the organizers of "Michael Forever," a tribute to the late great Michael Jackson scheduled for Oct. 8 in Cardiff, Wales (who knew the Welsh dug the King of Pop so much?).

Organizers for the concert have slashed ticket prices for the show, which has Christina Aguilera, Leona Lewis, Cee Lo Green, Smokey Robinson and Ne-Yo on the docket. TMZ is reporting that Oscar winner Jamie Foxx has also just signed on.

Discount ticket prices are never a good sign, but even Jackson fan groups aren't jazzed about the show, with 30 fan groups boycotting, a Facebook group called "Fans Against Michael Jackson Forever Tribute" and Janet Jackson's recent decision to pull out of the show.

Some of controversy stems from Ticketmaster U.K.'s buy-one-get-one-free deal, although we don't really understand why offering cheaper tickets to fans is a big deal. Ticketmaster is constantly slammed for its exorbitant rates because it apparently has magic elves stuff each ticket envelope, and they have a very strong union. The execs at the ticket giant must be so psyched to have people complaining that their services are, in fact, not expensive enough.

Other fans are upset because the manslaughter trial of Conrad Murray, Jackson's physician at the time of his death, is still ongoing.

Beyonce was scheduled to perform via satellite, but some sources are claiming she's pulling out. Organizers, however, claim she's set to perform with a "unique, never-before-seen performance." There was no official word from our reigning Queen of Pop as to whether she's still booked.

Shoe-per Star

British rapper Tinie Tempah dropped a whopping $37,500 at an auction Thursday night on the future kicks worn by Michael J. Fox in "Back to the Future II."

Nike released 1,500 Air MAGs and through Sept. 17 are selling 150 pairs of them on eBay to benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. In 1998, Fox revealed he was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 1991.

The shoes are replicas of the ones worn by Fox in "Back to the Future II," during which Marty McFly travels to the year 2015. The shoes' soles are covered in an LED panel so they light up, leading to many a "twinkle toes" jokes from jealous onlookers.

Tempah, whose hit "Written in the Stars" is blowing up worldwide (minus the U.S.), said: "It was a total spur-of-the-moment decision. I was really touched in the moment by the presentation, and next thing I knew I owned these iconic sneakers."

TATTBITS

*Charlie Sheen is headed to the big screen once more, according to Variety, who says that the warlock will star in the semi-autobiographical film, now titled "A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charlie Swan III."

Before you groan and moan about Sheen's blinding overexposure, Variety is reporting that the movie will have a degree of high-art pedigree.

"Charlie Swan," about a graphic designer with unlimited charm, money and fame (because graphic designers are almost always guaranteed a life of fame and fortune), will be written and directed by Roman Coppola, son of "The Godfather" godfather Francis Ford Coppola and director of "CQ." Jason Schwartzman, another Anderson regular, is set to star alongside Sheen.

Bush Leads First 9/11 Anniversary Ceremony

George W Bush has led the first of the 9/11 commemorations as America prepares to mark the 10th anniversary of the day that changed the world.

The former US president, joined by his wife Laura, laid a wreath of white flowers at the Pentagon in silent remembrance.

He placed it by the 9/11 memorial stone embedded in the wall outside Corridor 4 - near where hijacked American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the building, killing 184 people.

Mr and Mrs Bush are now in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, for the dedication of the United Flight 93 memorial.

Forty passengers and crew died on board the aircraft, which plummeted to the ground during an onboard struggle to thwart hijackers who had seized the plane.

Earlier, President Barack Obama and the First Lady paid an emotional visit to Arlington Cemetery in Virginia, where they spent time among the graves of US servicemen and women killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Mr Obama, who will take part in various ceremonies tomorrow, also called for national unity and reflected on a decade that tested America's character.

"The terrorists who attacked us that September morning are no match for the character of our people, the resilience of our nation or the endurance of our values," the President said in his weekly radio and internet address.

"We're doing everything in our power to protect our people. And no matter what comes our way, as a resilient nation, we will carry on."

Mr Obama sought a balance between remembering and moving forward. He also tried to summon the feeling of unity that existed after terrorists killed nearly 3,000 people.

"They wanted to deprive us of the unity that defines us as a people. But we will not succumb to division or suspicion.

"We are Americans, and we are stronger and safer when we stay true to the values, freedoms and diversity that make us unique among nations."

Mr Obama thanked American troops who have served in the post-September 11 wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

He praised the military successes that led to advances against al Qaeda and the killing of the group's leader, Osama bin Laden.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to winding down the conflicts he inherited.

"Yes, we face a determined foe, and make no mistake they will keep trying to hit us again.

"But as we are showing again this weekend, we remain vigilant. We're doing everything in our power to protect our people."

Meanwhile, intelligence officials have been working around the clock to determine the validity of a new threat of a possible al Qaeda attack on New York or Washington timed to coincide with the anniversary.

Mr Obama, who was a state senator in Illinois at the time of the attacks, is scheduled to visit New York City, Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and the Pentagon tomorrow.

In the evening, he plans to speak at a memorial event at the Kennedy Centre in Washington.

Libya: More Bloodshed In Battle For Bani Walid

As convoys of anti-Gaddafi troops move forward towards Bani Walid, more bloodshed is predicted in the effort to take one of Muammar Gaddafi's remaining strongholds.

At regular intervals, ambulances screech by in the opposite direction towards the clinic in the nearest village fifty kilometres away.

The reinforcements from the north started the day at the mosque, praying for victory in their hometown, before heading to the front line.

The National Transitional Council's negotiator for the area, Abdullah Kenshil told us they have about 4,000 rebel fighters surrounding the collection of hamlets in the valley.

It is thought there are only around 50 die-hard Gaddafi supporters holed up in the area, but they have had time to prepare for what may well be their last stand.

When the fighters launched their assault on Friday evening , they faced difficult terrain and a barrage of heavy weaponry including rockets and artillery.

They claim their enemy is using residents' houses as bases and firing points, making it almost impossible to fire back without risking the lives of civilians.

Abdullah Kenshil is optimistic they can take the town but says he is determined they will do it legally and while respecting human rights.

He has issued a directive to all troops, demanding: "You will not enter houses; you will not hurt the people. You will not fire in the air; prisoners will be captured and judged through the courts..."

But there is already tension between the different communities and leaders involved in the battle.

The Bani Walid commanders refused to wait for the deadline imposed by Benghazi's National Transitional Council but say the early attack was justified.

"They are inside the city, they are fighting with snipers. They forced this on us and it was in self-defence," said Abdullah Kenshil.

And the people of Bani Walid are determined to claim this victory as theirs alone -reluctant to allow so-called 'foreign' fighters onto their land.

They are proud and historically very independent and they are keen to capture the "Big Fish" Abdullah Kenshil says is personally pulling the strings behind the fierce resistance in the town.

He is convinced Colonel Gaddafi himself is leading his men, alongside his former spokesman Moussa Ibrahim and at least two of his sons.

The rebel fighters have now reached the outskirts of Bani Walid. Their target, the Souk, or market place is two kilometres away.

But it may be some time before they claim the town and any Gaddafi prize within it.

And it will surely bring more of the bloodshed that they were so desperate to avoid.

9/11: Afghanistan 'No Longer About One Event'

As they walked into the corner of the compound that was Sky News' temporary home at Checkpoint Atlantis, it was clear the lads were nervous.

Tinks and Billy, elite Royal Marine snipers, are braver than you or I - staring death in the face on an almost daily basis, trusting in and relying on each other to get home safe and sound each night.

Yet as they sat down cross-legged on the dusty floor, they were uneasy - until, that is, they did what they always do and began to lean on the other.

They are clearly as close as two young friends can be.

When I asked them for their memories of 9/11 they acted as if twins - often finishing each others sentences, agreeing with each other and nodding in sync, giving an honest account of what it was like that dark day, for those almost too young to process the event.

"I'd have been 12, 10 years ago," said Billy. "I was on the bus waiting to go home, still at school.

"One of the girl's dads was flying to America. She was upset and through her everyone found out."

Tinks looked at his friend then, when certain he'd said all he wanted to, spoke slowly.

"I was 14. I was still at school, I remember being in a history lesson and seeing one of the teachers come in. She was crying and no one knew why.

"Then she told everyone, and I don't think anyone really understood how big it was, what kind of a disaster it was, until later when we all went home and saw it on the news."

As did so many others, seeing these events on television was a surreal event for them both - especially as they were just two young lads raised on action films and games of playing soldier.

Yet the constant barrage of imagery meant it quickly became all too clear this was no fiction, no Hollywood event - but a heinous act, committed by criminals.

"It was on the scale of natural disasters," said Billy. "But this time someone was to blame for it. This time it was terrorism."

The two barely knew of Afghanistan's existence, let alone those who had planned and executed the attack on the twin towers.

"At that age you kind of live in your own little bubble. It's just you, your friends and your family, you're just kind of plodding on.

"If someone had said to me: 'Who are the Taliban? Who are al Qaeda?' - I'd have been like, I don't know. Some bad guys."

But as they grew older, so did their understanding of what had happened that day - of Osama bin Laden, of the al Qaeda network, of the lengths to which some people were prepared to go to spread their views and suppress those they disagreed with.

Having made the decision to join the Royal Marines, they now find themselves trying to find a broader meaning to the job here in Nad e Ali.

For both, this is less to do with bearded men in caves plotting terrorist acts and more to do with this country's future.

"It's not about that one incident anymore. It's about many others," said Tinks.

"It's about why Afghanistan is the way it is, and what allowed that to happen in the first place.

"We're trying to get out of Afghanistan - we don't want our children or grandchildren to come back here."

Not for the first time, Billy nodded in agreement - and I found myself doing the same.

Not for the first time, I found myself deeply impressed by the Royal Marines Commandos.

Good luck lads - keep your heads down. I know you'll be looking out for each other.

Watch: Behind The Scenes With Brad Pitt On 'Moneyball'

Please wait...

By JACK SWIKER

September 09, 2011

Moneyball, starring Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill and Philip Seymour Hoffman, takes a look inside the story of how one man changed the way that baseball was managed.

The film follows Pitt as Billy Beane, the real-life general manager of the Oakland Athletics, as he tries to assemble his baseball team using different standards than have been previously used in baseball.

Speaking on the challenges that Billy Beane faced, Pitt says, "The minute you start questioning any of those norms, you can be labeled a heretic or dismissed as foolish. These guys had to step back and ask, 'If we were going to start this game today, is this how we'd do it?' A system that has worked for 150 years doesn't work for us - I think that's applicable to the moments of flux we're experiencing today."

Moneyball opens in theaters on September 23, 2011.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

It?s time again for sequins and celebrities!

On Monday night, ?Dancing with the Stars? co-hosts Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke revealed the new cast set to compete on Season 13 of the show, set to begin on September 19 on ABC.

Actress and former talk show host Ricki Lake, Laker Ron Artest (who took his shirt off after his name was revealed), Wilson Phillips singer Chynna Phillips, former ?The Hills? reality star Kristin Cavallari, actor David Arquette, and fashion expert Carson Kressley were the first names revealed on Monday night.

In a second announcement made by Bergeron and Burke during ABC?s ?Bachelor Pad,? also confirmed were HLN host and former prosecutor Nancy Grace, ?All My Children? actor and war veteran J.R. Martinez, soccer star Hope Solo, ?Keeping Up with the Kardashians? man of the house Robert Kardashian, Italian bombshell (and George Clooney?s ex-girlfriend) Elisabetta Canalis, and Cher?s son, Chaz Bono.

When asked if having been a part of the ?Hairspray? cast gave her an edge by an audience member at the cast reveal, Ricki laughed.

?Oh come on! You?re kidding!? Ricki smiled. ?I was 18 years old, that was 1988, I was 200 pounds and I was faking it the entire time. It was all about the attitude, not about the steps. I assure you I do not have an edge.?

David, who split with wife Courteney Cox late last year, an actress who is on ABC show ?Cougar Town,? said he joined the show to bring positivity to his life.

?Well, I love to dance and I love to entertain,? he said. ?I?m really looking for positive things in my life and dancing really makes me happy. It really helps ground me and it provides grace in my life and those are all the things that I?m looking for.?

As for Chaz, he said he?s already nervous for competition to begin.

?I think it?s daunting,? the son of Sonny Bono and Cher noted.

The new season will premiere on Monday, September 19, in a two-hour show, from 8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT.

The following night ABC will air ?Dancing with the Stars: Meet the Cast,? which airs at 8 PM, followed at 9 PM by the first ?DWTS? results show.

Snooki -- Bye Bye Beamer, Helllllllllooooo ESCALADE!

0909_snooki_car_EX
Another big breakup on the "Jersey Shore" ... this time Snooki has kicked her BMW to the curb in exchange for a much BIGGER ride.

TMZ has learned Snooki just drove off the lot of a Long Island Cadillac dealership in a brand new Escalade.

One source close to the Snook tells us Snooki's new ride came with some pretty sick black alloy rims (pictured above).

After the deal, Snooki went to her Twitter and wrote, "Bye beamer, my poor frankie, love you always!"

No word on how much she paid for the car -- but it probably doesn't matter much ... those kids are frickin' loaded.
